Reflective Practice - Basic Training **Reflective Practice - Basic Training for Title 5 State Subsidized Child Care Providers
Jun 14, 2010

About the Reflective Practice Training

Working with young children and their families can be challenging.  The personal and intense nature of the work often elicits strong emotions and reactions that can impact the work we are trying to do, and can make us respond in ways that we find not to be useful or effective.  Reflective practice has been shown to be the model that is most effective in supporting young children and families in relationship-based organizations.  It is a model that is research driven, culturally congruent, and is recognized as the model that best supports optimal cognitive, emotional, social and relational outcomes in young children.

This training will provide specifics about the skills needed to support reflective practice.  Practice materials, video, and vignette practice will be used to expand the participant's knowledge of and understanding of reflective practice.

This course will incorporate real examples and dilemmas that participants experience in their roles.  A clear conceptual model will be presented that will support participants to expand their skills in their roles.

Intended Audience:

The Reflective Practice - Basic training is intended for supervisory staff (i.e. Site Supervisor, Program Directors, etc.) & line staff (i.e. Teachers, Teacher Assistants, etc.)
