The Power and Impact of Inclusion

for Children Birth-5-

CREATING SUCCESSFUL INCLUSION TEAMS

 

TEAM APPLICATION PROCESS:

-Form a team from your program.

-Together choose a name for your team and a member who will act as your team lead.

-Each participant fills out a separate registration (include your team name).

-Team will be assigned an inclusion coach to facilitate and assist with learning.

-Attend all sessions together.

-Inclusion coach will do at least 2 on-site visits at your program to help your team apply the information from the training.

Outcomes:

· Understand inclusion definitions and state of the art inclusion models that will work for your team

· Create a successful inclusion team

· Learn effective communication strategies that promote reflective practice

· Understand and learn strategies to work effectively with children who have challenging behaviors and developmental needs

· Understand standards that promote and include NAEYC and DEC Guidelines for developmentally appropriate practice

· Use your schedule, routine and the classroom environment as a teaching strategy

· Learn different teaching strategies that are effective for ALL children

· Understand how to infuse IFSP/IEP goals into activities and developmentally appropriate curriculum
