SpEd Restraint Training for Special Educators

One-Day Restraint Training

This training follows the two-day Professional Assault Crisis Training. The Pro-ACT program was designed to provide special education staff with the opportunity to develop necessary understanding and skills to avoid or reduce the need for restraint. Pro-ACT principles focus on maintaining the safety and dignity of the student while keeping everyone safe. The ultimate goal is to help students learn alternative methods for meeting their needs and developing self-control.

Migrating to Microsoft Windows 7 & Office 2007

This course is designed for experienced Microsoft Office users who have worked with earlier versions of Microsoft Office, ideally Microsoft Office 2003, and those who have upgraded to Microsoft Office 2007. We will be working on the new Windows 7 operating system - reviewing the changes and conveniences it offers.

Applications covered include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This course covers the commonly used new features for a typical user.

SELPA-The ABC's of a Transition Functional Assessment Model (TFAM): Connecting Assessment to Transition Goals

Do you need a Transition assessment tool? Requirements under the IDEiA 2004 direct the use of "appropriate measurable postsecondary goals based upon age appropriate transition assessments". This training offers an appropriate Transition assessment model for teachers of students with mild to severe disabilities and complies with the IDEiA expectations. Participants will: (1) learn to develop goals based on assessment outcomes and (2) assist students in meeting their full potential in multiple environments: education, employment and daily living skills.

The Preschool Forum is a required meeting for all MEES and NON-MEES sites. Forum #4 will focus on sharing effective best practices with preschool practitioners to better support the preschool age students we serve. Program coordinators are welcomed to join us but are not required.

We will be providing a continental breakfast and lunch. If you have a special dietary need, please let us know, and we will do our best to accommodate your request. It is important that everyone RSVP their attendance in order to secure a room with sufficient capacity and to determine our catering order. If you have not registered online, your meal cannot be guaranteed.

This year, the conference centers on making meaning through arts learning experiences. Workshops are designed to provide participants with a fresh perspective on making meaning through the arts and across other core subject areas. Strategies for effective arts implementation and integration in the classroom through hands-on experiences in dance, music, theatre, and visual arts will be offered. The conference sessions are designed to meet the needs of teachers with diverse experience and expertise.

New participants receive a complementary copy of the Santa Clara County Office of Education's Visual and Performing Arts Resource Guide, developed to promote implementation of the California Visual and Performing Arts Framework and Content Standards. The guide includes an extensive collection of K-8 lessons and interdisciplinary units that address arts instructional methods and arts integration with other core subjects.

Inclusion Make and Take Workshop -Visual Behavior Supports

Please join us for a hands-on Preschool Inclusion Make and Take Workshop. Participants will make practical visual adaptations that can be used in the classroom. Adaptations may include: a Feeling board, feeling block game, visual classroom rules, as well as other items may be included.

These adaptations can be used with all children, including: Children with special needs, English language learners, children who are at risk for developmental delay, and children with IEPs
